partial zone shutoff valve

Question
Hey Matt,
I have a sprikler zone that has both turf and a rose bed on it.  I've foound that the roses don't need as much water as the turf and are having some dieback as a result. (I have popups for the roses and turf).  I don't want to install a new zone for the roses only.  I was wondering if there is a valve that I can install on the pvc between the turf and the roses that I can turn on and off. That way I can turn off the roses 2 out of the 3 times a week that the turf is watered.  Is there such a product and where can I find it?  Thanks, Rob

Answer
Rob,
The only thing "simple" I can think of is to install a manual valve on the pipe to shut off the rose bed. You could use a gate valve or ball valve on the pipe going to the bed. You would need to manually turn the valve on or off as needed to water the roses.
You need to determine the size of the pipe going to the roses and go to a hardware to get a valve and fittings. Once installed, you place a valve box to the surface to access the valve.
I wish I had a better answer for your situation.

Matt
