Hunter irrigation system

Question
Hello, I bought a new construction home back in 2009 and it came with my first irrigation system. I have learned a lot about it by trial and error. Now, I am stumped...The control box is a discontinued model, Hunter XC, and it controls 8 zones. It operates when it wants too and I discovered today, 3 years later, that the battery was never activated. This is the least of my worries for now.

Zone 6 was coming on whenever any other zone came on. I physically disconnected the red wires from all 8 zones (on control box)and left the (I'm assuming the master control valve) wires (white connected to "C" and blue connected to "P") hooked up. When I turned any zone on, I expected nothing to happen; however, zone 6 continued to shoot water.

Would this be a zone 6 valve or a master valve issue? If master valve, I cannot find it. I understand it should be close to the main water line but all valves look alike and all have either a red and/or white wire from them, not blue. Blue is connected to the control box and goes into the ground next to house. My last option is to dig and follow where it goes.

Any advise on this and to the questions above?  Thank you in advance.

Answer
Hey Matt, the problem is with zone #6. since when you turn the controller on, the master valve kicks in and pressurizes the mainline. Since #6 is working (without the wire connected) this means valve #6 is stuck on. Go to www.irrigationtutorials.com and this website will show you how to rebuild or replace the valve in question. Good luck andhave a great day.
