One zone malfunctioning

Question
Hi Jim,

I have a irrigation system with 9 zones.  8 zones work great.  1 zone has suddenly stopped producing enough pressure to allow the pop up misters to pop up, water leaks from the heads but thats about it.  The pump cycles on and off when that particular zone is running but runs continuosly on the other zones.

I located the valve box and noticed the solenoid was humming a little and thought that to be the problem but after replacing the solenoid nothing changed.  I am thinking that the valve is worn out and won't stay in a full open or closed position but would like a second opinion before cutting the line and replacing the entire valve.

I changed the wire for that station to another station and tested it to make sure that there wasn't a short in the controller where the zone was wiring into the controller.  Even with the wire going to the solenoid for the faulty station wired into another station on the controller the pump continues to cycle on and off.

I have a couple of other stations running only misters(one with about half of number the misters as the faulty zone)so I don't think that the pump needs to be adjusted.

Am I right in my thoughts that the valve is probably the culprit in this scenario?

Thanks

Answer
Hey Gary, I hope this helps. You are correct, the valve is not opening up properly. You can either replace the valve, or you can put a new diaphram in your existing valve. Go to www.irrigationtutorials.com, and this web site will show you how to replace a diaphram, or the entire valve. Let me know if I can be of anymore help, thanks and have a great day.
