Leaking Hardie valve

Question
I have a 1-1/2" Hardie in line sprinkler valve that has a constant slow leak. The leak continues even after closing the manual shut off on the top of the valve. Do I have to replace the whole valve or can I just unscrew the valve parts (diaphragm, etc). Where can I get new parts for this Hardie valve?

Answer
Hey Rod, I hope this helps. If you turn down the flow control stem and the valve continues to seep water, it is one of two things. It could be that the diaphram has a hole or tear in it, and this is why the water is seeping through. If the diaphram is bad, it can be replaced without replacing the whole valve. The other thing it could be, is the seat inside the valve, where the diaphram sits to stop the water, is cracked, and the water seeps through this crack. If the body is cracked, then you need to replace the whole valve. Either way you need to take the valve apart, and check the diaphram, and also the valve body to determine which one is causing the problem. Any professional irrigation supply store should carry the parts you are looking for.Good luck and have a great day.
