I am going to send a photo to [email protected]. But my question is what kind of banana tree plant do I have, and are the fruit edible or not. The plant was a gift, and after two years it is finally producing and is just amazing to look at. I will be sending a picture right away. Thank you

Hello Deborah,

Your banana plant looks like a non-edible ornamental species to me.
I would say the it is either Musa rosacea or possible Musa ornata Roxburgh. If the fruit turns pink and hairy then it is Musa velutina but I think it is too tall for that.
There are so many out there and I have limited experience with them...all I can give you is my best educated guess.
