Banana Tree I think

Question
Hi I bought  what I think is a form of banana tree from inside of Wal mart and
one of the reasons Im not sure exactly what type of plant this is is that I
cannot find it online. Well I having trouble keeping my plant happy. I believe
the tag (lost a long time ago) stated it was a banana tree but one that did not
grow bananas. Its in Orlando near an almost always open window and I water
it when the soil feels dry (about once a week). The plant itself looks fine but
the leaves are browning at the tips.  I would love some help and I would also
love to send you a photo through email, maybe you could tell me what type
of plant this is?? But any help is appriciated thank you so much!!

Answer
Hi Patrick, bananas need a moist soil at all times, (not wet, but damp), they can't dry out or the symptoms you describe take place, plus those are symptoms of low humidity, bananas need high humidity, so mist the leaves frequently and give it a junge like atmosphere and it will do fine., bottom line, lots of sun, moisture both on the roots and on the leaves....good drainage though, so the roots don't sit in water...Nick
