Propagating Crape Myrtles from suckers

Question
How do you propagate from new suckers?

Answer
Hi Danny,
Thanx for your question.  Use a pitchfork and dig around the sucker deeply and remove the soil around the roots until you can see the main root.  Cut this root to separate the sucker from the mother tree but make sure there is a nice clump of roots around the sucker.  Plant the sucker in a hole at least as deep and round as the clump.  Put some dried manure in the bottom of the hole and fill with water.  Allow the water to drain somewhat and then put the plant in and cover with soil.  Soak with water.  Water once a week if no regular rain.  I hope this helps.
Tom
