Propagating Tri-lobed seed pod from Money Tree

Question
Greetings. I recently picked a tri-lobed seed pod from what I was told is a Money Tree. It looks like three small, brown, hard avocados with a woody, central stem. The tree had a clean trunk, was very tall (approximately 125 feet) and solid green, thinner leaves rather than round leaves. I really want to propagate this seed (it was a wonderful memory) and don't know how to begin. I live in south Florida. Thank you.

Answer
Hi Leslie,
Thanx for your question.  Pachia aquatica is the tree I think to which you refer.  Also called Guyana chesnut, saba nut, etc.  Easily grown from seed.  Seeds are edible and are said to taste like peanuts.  Plant the seed one inch deep in a regular pot with good potting soil.  Keep warm and moist but should have good drainage to prevent rot.  Germination occurs quickly if kept warm (less than 2 weeks).  Keep the seedling in the same pot until it is about two feet tall.  Generally, you won't want a pot that is too big.  Train the tree while it is young and supple.  Will survive to 28F and grows reliably in South Florida outdoors.  I hope this helps.
Tom
