Thanx for your question. You do not need to have to Japanese cherry trees to ensure they will bloom. Having more than one tree is necessary for some of the fruiting trees in order to get fruit because they are not self-pollinating. In the ornmental case, because you're not looking for it to fruit or fruiting has been bred out of it, you don't need more than one tree. I hope this helps.
