Cherry trees grow at about a normal rate BUT this all depends on the soil they are planted in, the location (local weather conditions). the space they are planted in,

The best way to select a tree for where you live is first decide if you want a flowering tree or one from fall color and what size tree you need for the space it will be planted in and the need for a fast growing tree for say maybe a hedge. . Then go to you local tree nursery and ask them what they recommend and look at the choices.
