cedar trees

Question
We have several large cedar trees on our property and I had thought they were eastern red cedar.  The seed pods however are not blue but bright orange in colour.  The pods have drapes of soft fringe covering it.  I am wondering if you can tell me what type cedar it is and how to go about propagating the seed.

Answer
Hi Wallace,
Thanx for your question.  Your question will better be answered by our Tree expert Jim Hyland.  Jim has extensive experience in the Forestry Service and is our tree expert.  You can access Jim by going back to Home/Garden and click on Trees and then click on Trees again.  I hope this helps.
Tom
