moving honeysuckle

Question
QUESTION: My vine is hardly 3 years old, in part shade, near my backyard window, attached to a perglo, its not growing big, its hardly 3 feet tall but the stem is getting thicker, my guess is it doesnot get enough sunlight (which is 4pm to 6pm direct sunlight) i want to move it to more sunny area because it hasn't shown me any flower at all. Is it ok or will it die and am I right about it or not, pls help me!

ANSWER: Hi Huria,
Thanx for your question.  Go ahead and move your plant now.  I would cut it away from the pergola to make it easier to handle and then dig a hole bigger and deeper than the root ball.  Plant it and amend with side-dressings of well-composted manure.  Water once a week.  You should see new growth and later, if in full sun for 6-8 hours, flowers.  I hope this helps.

QUESTION: thank u for ur advice. i have one more question, will it like it in the full sun of texas heat or will it be an ugly old vine and its growing like a hedge not vine can i prune it after transplanting or should i wait for next year, its main stem is around 1 1/2 inches in diameter approx.

Answer
Hi Huria,
Thanx for the follow up.  The honeysuckle will do fine in the full sun of Texas.  This is a very hardy vine and will tolerate intense cold as well as intense heat.  Yes, you may prune after transplanting.  I never water mine and sometimes we go 6 weeks without substantial rain and 100F days in the summer.  It does just fine and continues to bloom until frost and stays green until it gets bitterly cold.  I hope this helps.
