ph level

thank you,
shanna sammons

Answer
Hi Shanna
pH has to be adjusted very carefully in a Koi pond - adjusting it too fast can put the fish in shock.
There are many proprietary products available on the market, use called something like "pH down" "pH decrease" "ph up" "ph increase" etc.
These products lower the ph only a certain percentage with each dose making sure it is safe for the fish.
There are also products available that buffer the water to help keep the pH stable once it is at the correct level.
The pH does not have to be perfect in a Garden Pond.
A level somewhere between 6.8 and 8.0 usually works quite well.
