crown rot on king palms

Question
I have a customer who is telling me that he has established king palms that appear to have crown rot.  It is growing new frawns, but they are very small and wrinkley...shriveling up.  Any suggestions?  Please call me if you can 760.738.8301
thanks

John

Answer
Hi John, it sounds like "frizzle top" which is a nutrient deficiency, Palms need a well balanced fertilizer formulated specifically for them, including the most important micro nutrients, Magnesium sulfate and manganese sulfate; find out if he has fertilized them properly (technique and type), and how often. Crown rot symptoms would be more of a decaying crown, almost like it is actually rotting from the top down, and no new "fronds" would form at all. Let me know...Nick
