tropical plants for sandy soil

Question
I live in Florida and my front yard gets full sun and has extremely sandy soil. What is a good tropical plant that will thrive and be at least 3 feet tall?

Answer
Hi Pamela, are you looking for color and a made to order care free plant? then you can't do better then "Aboricola Trinette", it has colorful, variegated leaves (yellow and green) and thrives in the Florida sun and sandy soil; very drought tolerant and tolerant of heavy rain. If you prefer something with flowers, then my choice would be a Plumbago, but you will have to keep it pruned to your specific height, which isn't a problem either, it has a small blue flower which covers it most of the year. Nick
