Fox Tail Palm frost

Question
Hi,
Thank you for answering some of the other questions on this topic. We planted our three foxtails over two summers ago. The frost hit us this winter like everyone else here in the Tampa Bay area. The tall one protected the smaller two. Having waited all summer the large one is doing nothing. The core which was out at frost time is brown. We did remove all the dead fronds one has a little green about two inched up from the trunk the rest of it is brown. The trunk has a green cast is there hope for this tree? We have used the palm fertilizer. The other two are fine.

Answer
Hi Denise, its funny you ask that question, for I too have one I am watching, that is exactly the same; my guess is that I will be taking it out, but here in Florida, you have to be patient, sometimes it takes months before you see any improvement, so to answer your question, wait until it declines more, then it will be the time to put it out of its misery, in the mean time, keep it irrigated but don't waste fertilizer, for it is not feeding in this condition, I will be doing the same thing. with mine:)..Nick
