Tropical plant identification

Question

Tropical plant with bl
I bought this plant several years ago and planted it in my shade garden even though the container said it was tropical (I live in zone9).  The plant does lose some leaves if we get a cold spell in the winter, but has always come back and is now several feet taller than I am.  I was drawn leaves--very dark green on top and purple underneath which almost makes them look black.  Just recently I noticed that the thing had a bloom on it.  I didn't know it did that. I've long lost the tag that said what it was, but I think it began with an 'L'.  I'd like to learn more about it, but for that I need a name.  Thank-you in advance for your help.

Answer
Hi Brenda, its a Clerodendrum Starburst, a beautiful plant that is rather easy to grow; make sure it gets adequate irrigation and fertilization about every 3rd month and it will do just fine for you. Research it in the Internet, now that you know the name, and you will see what it looks like once it is well established. Nick
