heliamphora

Question
in september, i went on vacation and was not able to water my heliamphoras. one still had water, but the other dried up. A  few weeks later, it sent up 6 new pitchers. i was just wondering if this is usual because all my other cps would not come back after that.

Answer
Hi Jarred,

"Normal" so depends on the overall growing conditions, which you didn't mention.  Your plant must have had a large enough rhizome to be able to survive the drought.  Surviving drought like that is often very plant by plant too.  I can think of numerous examples in Sarracenia where one plant would survive and another wouldn't.  Bottom line, try not to let them dry out. :)

Good Growing!
