Frost Damage

Question
Have a beautiful Japanese Red Maple Tree about 4 years old, early warm weather and the leaves emerged. Tree looked the best it has since planted, then came 5 days of Frost and now the leaves are all dried up and wilting.
Will new leaves grow this season, should I trim the old dried up leaves, or will this season be a tree without leaves. Thank you.

Answer
Just leave it alone and it will leaf out again. There is no need to try and trim the dried leaves this may do harm to the remaining buds. So let the leaves fall off by themselves. The tree will leaf back out--this is a characteristic of hardwood trees. They store food energy in their root systems and release it to produce leaves. The tree might not have the full foliage it did last year but it will be fine.
