Liquid Amber Sprouts in Grass

Question
The "Furit" droppings from our liquid amber trees are causing small sprouts to grow in our lawn.  Is there a spray that can be used to  kill these?  I have read you ranswer to preventing the fruit Ispray with Florel Fruit ELiminator); however, the fruit is already dropped for a number of years.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Answer
It all depends on the origin of the new plants. IF they are from seed then you can spray them BUT if they are from sprouts from the roots of the parent tree then spraying them will damage and/or kill the parent tree. The way to tell is dig several up and see if they have their own root system OR if they are connected to a larger root. If they are individual plants the mowing of the grass should get rid of them. These young plants can not take the mowing. Or you can spray the grass with a herbicide for lawns (one that kills the weeds but not the grass) and this will solve your problem. Check with your local nursery/garden type store for a herbicide for weeds in a lawn, there are several and some depend on the type of grass you have. IF the plants are connected to a large root then they can only be controlled safely by mowing.
