lighting

Question
Hi Darlene. I asked this question to another expert but they didn't know the answer. I'm trying to get some advice on lighting for the plants I have. I built a plant stand and installed 2 sunblaze light strips in it. They are pretty much as close to the plants as they can get. I have 1 cactus, 4 ornamental pepper plants, and 1 ficus bonsai tree. What I'm wondering is if the bulbs that came with the lights are what I should be using, or should I buy ones that are more to the blue or red spectrum, or should I put one of each in. I was told the blue bulbs would work well and that the red ones are for flowering plants. Are the pepper plants considered flowering plants? They get little flowers right before the pepper. It's just getting confusing to me. Thanks

Answer
Brandon,

The bulbs that came with the lights are designed to be grow lights with light that is equal to sun light. You cannot get anything better for your plants. You do not need to change them.

Yes, pepper plants are considered flowering plants. As such you should use fertilizer for blooming plants and they will produce more peppers. Good luck.

Darlene
