THUJA OCCEM Green

Question
I recently purchased 40 trees 8-10' tall. They came on a flat bed Truck from Maryland some had Yellow or brown spots I thought were burn spots from the trip. Now after 2 months 3 have turned yellow or brown and died. I am wondering if it is a debases of just transplant shock.
Maybe just not enough water. I know its hard to diagnose without seeing but an educated guess would do for me

Answer
They could have had a foliage disease when they arrived and the shock from planting was too much for them. The time of the year is about the worst time to try an plant trees of this size. the best time would be in the fall after the hardwoods have dropped their leaves or early spring before leaf out. The heat and lack of moisture tin the summer is very hard on new planted trees. Most nurseries will guarantee the trees to live so i would contact the nursery and ask for replacements. Of you have not done so mulch around the trees with not more than 3 inches deep of organic mulch not piled up on the trunk- this will help hold moisture around the roots. I would water every third day with 1 inch of water-place a pan under the trees and turn the sprinkler on and when the pan has 1 inch of water in it stop. Do this if it does not rain.
