tops of thuja green giants are wilting over

Question
David,
A few of my green giant trees are about 9' high and have been in the ground
for two years. They appear green and healthy with the exception that their
tops are leaning over like their are wilting. I have other similar trees that do
not show these characteristics. Is this a water problem? I can't understand
what is happening? Does there needs to be some remedial action taken?
I recently watered down some liquid Miracle Grow.  We  had a couple of wet
weeks with plenty of rain but and we also had a dry spring and I'm hoping the
trees have not been stressed beyond the point of no return
Is there something I can do to reverse the tide

Answer
Thujas do not need much water. Only water during times of drought.  They are fast growing trees and it may be that the tops that are leaning over is the new growth that has not hardened off yet, thus it is tender and not able to hold itself up yet.  Give it some time and it will probably stand up OK.  The trees are generally care-free.  Do not use quick release fertilizer.  Instead use a slow release tree fertilizer.  The miracle gro is a fast release and may have caused a flush of new growth.  They should be just fine.  Good Luck.
