Green Giant Thuja trees

Question
Last week-end we planted two large Green Giant thuja trees on a slope. They looked fine when they were planted but this past week it has done nothing but rain and now one of them seems to be leaning ever so slightly downhill. My husband balks at the idea of having to dig it up again. Is it likely to straighten itself up? (I have noticed that trees planted on a hill seem to be all standing upright). Or should we stake it back into position? What is your advice please?

Answer
A slight lean is not a problem and the tree will straighten out. Of it is leaning say 20 degrees from horizontal then it should be staked to pull the tree back upright. Sounds like your tree is ok and will grow upright by itself. I would leave it be replanting it would cause more damage then letting it alone.
