hemlock bush

Question
I had someone trim mine last summer and I notice they are now sparse and look like they are dying on one side. The other side is flush. He may have trimmed my side too close. Is there some kind of remediation/fertilizer/spray I can use to bring them back to full bloom?

I live in Connecticut, USAo

Answer
Hello Peter

Hemlock (Tsuga) is a conifer and they don't like hard pruning, which seems to be the problem here.  If whoever 'pruned' your plant used a saw, then he was cutting into old wood and there is no coming back from that.

However, if there is some green still showing, it is possible that it may grow out and fill in the gaps eventually, but there is nothing much you can do except wait.
