azalea bush

Question
My 2 azalea bushes have just completed flowering and I'm seeing small (1/4 inch or less) white spongy growths along most of the woody branches.  The numbers range from a single growth to a grouping of as many as 20.  The growths are mostly snow white with one end being grey. Please help!

Sounds like scale.  We all like to smell flowers and the scale does too.  Unfortunatly they have a different motive.  They will attach themselves to the plant and absorb the nutrients translocating back and forth.  I would advise getting rid of them before they become a full blown infestation and this will happen very quickly with a little rain or humid weather.

If you want to go all natural there is a remarkable new product that I have been using commercially on Asian Cycad Scale.  It literally washes them away an it will stimulate and repair the Azaleas at the same time.  It had a dehydrating effect on the pathogens.

I get mine from www.crowleynursery.net  Nursery Tab

its calles Atomic Grow.

Good Luck
