time to plant

Question
Dear Henry,

The place I digged last weekend is too big for my two little mini roses. They look lonely. When is the best time to plant roses?  Should I go ahead to buy some more or wait till spring comes?(I don't want bulbs, they need green thumbs to take care of after blooming. What hardy roses will you suggest for grow in Greenville, SC. Zone 7B? Something won't die.

Best Regards
Lena

Answer
Your MiniRoses can be a lot of work.  I would recommend some other companion plants in the spring.  It is too late to order these for now.  Then your MiniRoses won't be lonely and they will grow even better with the right companions.

Bulbs would be a less than ideal choice because they almost always should be left dry in the summer.  Roses needed to be watered.  Bad combination.

There are thousands of Roses on the market.  Pick out a few and let me know what they are.  I'll tell you whether they will be OK in Greenville.
