worms on my roses

hi  Carlene my name is Ron i have several rose bushes in my yard they are potted and i noticed a couple plants have these green  worms with what appears to be an orange  head eating  my  leaves its driving me crazy i  really dont wanna use insecticides unless i positively have to do u know what these worms are and how i can get rid of them?im a novice a growin roses only been growin about 3 years any advice would be greatly appreciated.      Thank  You  for any help you may supply

Hi Ron-

They may be cut worms.  There are organic herbicides you can buy at Lowes, or other garden centers.  Manufacturers are making them now because of consumers like yourself.  One idea you could do is to plant marigolds around the roses - they are a natural insect repellent.  You could also shoot a strong spray of water at the leaves to knock them off.
