Question We have some type of bug, Haven't actually seen it that is eating the buds off our climbing rose bushes. Either the bud completely disappears or the inside where the petals form will be gone. The bushes are otherwise healthy. Any answer will be appreciated. Thank-you
AnswerI wonder if it isn't birds. It depends where your garden is but some little birds do eat or peck off rose buds. The other thing that could cause the problem would be a caterpillars and you would see those. Try tying anything that flutters in one area of the climber and see if those buds survive. If they do it is the birds.
