my garden is being infiltrated with birds.Eating seeds chewing the tops of plants,etc.What's the best way to remedy this, short of covering entire garden.Does a scarecrow really work?

Will,

Birds can wretch havoc to a garden.  The best way is to cover the plants; try to find out what time of day the birds are worse and cover them then.  Another option is to attract the birds away from your garden with a bird feeder and water, giving them something else to eat my get them away from your plants.
