are these perennials or annuals

Question
I have purchased some flowers I thought where perennials but the store says they are annuals.
I have got gerbera daisy, and brachycone, dahlia, and portulaca.
please get back with me at my email address if you can.
Thanks a bunch Geina
Also whats the best thing to plant on a steep bank thats pure clay?? I have tried several plants with no luck.

Answer
Hi Geina,
Thanx for your question.  Gerbera daisies, brachycomes and dahlias are perenials in zones 8 and warmer.  They are often treated as annuals further north.  Some people in the north will lift the tubers of dahlias and store them in the basement for the winter.  Portulaca is an annual.  For steep banks, I would try crown vetch.  It will fill in fast and help prevent erosion.  I hope this helps.
Tom
