Hydraenga Tree

Question
I have a 1 year old Hydraenga tree planted in the south side of my home which gets sun most of the day (St. Louis, MO area).
It bloomed white flowers beautifully and really grew this year.  I was out of town a week and high temperatures hit and it was without water.  Leaves curled up and fell off and there are some brown spots on some remaining leaves. The flowers are now green/brown.  Is this due to the drought or disease or time of the season?

Answer
Hi Janice,
Thanx for your question.  It sounds like your hydrangea had some ill effects from lack of moisture.  They need a good soaking once a week and perhaps your soil is draining too well.  They like a little moisture in their soil although not soggy.  Also, it is the time of the season for blossoms to be fading.  Not to worry.  Water the plant and I think it will be fine.  I hope this helps.
Tom
