Weed-B-Gone and Peonies emergency

Question
I have a few peonies that have been established and have flowered in the past. This year unfortunately they were accidently sprayed with Weed-B-Gone(to kill the dandelions in the grass) by my not so significant other!.. They were full of buds and now they are all flopping. I'm pretty much going to have no flowers this year but wanted to know if I should cut them down completely and allow the roots to survive. We're getting good rain and I thought that if I add a good fertilizer this may help the roots get stronger for next year.
If that is ok then can you recommend a fertilizer. Also I was thinking about moving some of them...Should I wait?
Let me know what you think.Any commments will be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hi Ashley,
Thanx for your question.  Hopefully, your peonies were well established and the Weed-B-Gone has not done them in.  With some vigorous plants like peonies it might take a couple of applications of Weed-B-Gone to completely annihilate them.  Hopefully, they will weather this assault.  Try not to be too hard on your partner.  I'm sure the intentions were good.  I would leave the foliage be for now and see what kind of recovery if any you're going to have.  If the foliage dies completely, shrivels, etc.  Cut if off and fertilize the area with a thick dressing of well composted manure and then you'll have to sit and wait to see what if anything, emerges next season.  I wish you the best!
Tom
