boxwoods

Question
we recently bought our home, oct 06, it has several boxwoods along the walkway to front door, there were beautiful, very green, all threw winter, until about 2 weeks ago, now they are all during brown, like there dying, the previous owners bought home in 1994, so they were put in between 94 and 06, any item on what the problem may be? any help would be appreciated, I know nothing about lawn or garden care, we are in buckingham va, weather is between 60-80's here now.
thank you
karen

Answer
Karen,

From the description of haow they all started to brown out at once, I would have to say that the boxwoods were damaged by either extereme cold temperatures/ice-snow or deicing salts in the root zones.

I would recommend watering the plants heavily to move the salt away and below the root zone and fertilizing them heavily this spring to help spark recovery.

Good luck,
Ed Gulliksen
