Corkscrew Vine Flowers

Question
QUESTION: I was so looking forward to seeing these flowers on the vine that I am growing on my front porch rails that face south. Currently, the vine is about 7 feet but the many "flowers" are only the size of a very small bean and never open.  I have noticed wasp type bees on the flowers. How can I have better success? THANKS for your help!

ANSWER: Hi Debbie,
Thanx for your question.  Can you give me a general idea of where you are located.  Also, check the link below.  Is this the plant you are asking after?
thx,
Tom

QUESTION: I am located in Bethlehem, PA and YES... the link to the picture is the flower I thought would bloom on this vine!!! The vine is in a container along with two herbs... oregano and parsley.. and all three share the space. I do use a diluted light "all purpose fertilizer" every other week. There are masses of these "white small beans"... that appear to be the flowers. The vine receives about four and a half hours of sunlight and is watered daily! Sure would LOVE to see the flower that you attached ... that is why I am growing this vine! Any ideas are welcome!!! Thanks!!!

Answer
Hi Debbie,
Thanx for the additional information.  My first guess is 4 1/2 hours of sunlight?  This is a tropical vine that requires full sun and for at least 6-8 hours a day.  Be sure to feed this plant with a well-balanced fertilizer like 12-12-12 or a fertilizer heavier on the phosphorus and potassium and lower on the nitrogen (the first number).  Too much nitrogen is great for the parsley and oregano and will make lots of green growth at the expense of flowers.  I hope this helps.
Tom
