clamatis flowers

Question
This is in reference to a clamatis vine.
After the blooms have died shoud they be picked off and discarded or left on?

Thank you

Answer
Hi Jeanette, cut those dead blooms off lickity split with a scissors to head off the seedpods.

Unless you want the seedpods.

Seed production takes energy.  The more energy your vine has for flowers, the more flowers you'll have next year.

And that as Martha would say is a Good Thing!

Throw them in the compost heap and put the compost all over the grass late next spring when it's ripe.  Easy as pie.
