white leaves on double salmon color hib

Question
hi tom...i recently planted some double salmon hib. in march..i live in central florida ..all of a sudden the leaves are turning a white color on some of the plants..i have been watering everyday that it does not rain..it seems that the white color does go away the next morning..i usually water in the evenings..i did fertilize for the first time about a couple of months ago and plan to fertizize again soon..they get full sun..this starting happening about a week ago..they seem to be growing fine although some of the plants are growing faster than others..thanks

Answer
Hi Bill,
Thanx for your question.  The only thing I can think of about this is the watering.  I'm wondering why you're watering every day.  You're in Central Florida has it been that dry that your soil is that dry?  Just wondering.  Leaves can get sun scald if exposed to too much watering overhead.  Water at the base of the plant for best results.  Doesn't sound like a fungus to me if the normal color is returning the next day.  You say the leaves turn back to normal color.  I don't think the fertilizer is the problem either.  Sounds like sun scald.  Water from ground level and you really only need to water once a week or so unless it is very, very hot and dry.  I hope this helps.
Tom
