white crystals

Question
On my Nepenthes there are small white crystals appearing on the leaves almost like small grains of salt and i was wondering what these are

Answer
Hi Jorge,

Those white crystals are dried nectar.  Some species of Nepenthes produce droplets of nectar on its pitchers and on its leaves.  I've seen Nepenthes bicalcarata do this.  Over time, the nectar dries up and leaves a sugar crystal of sorts.  It's perfectly normal and isn't really indicative of anything wrong.

Good growing!
