when to cut leggy jade

Question
Hi Leslie;
thanx for the prompt response.  you said to water with Vit B1
I assume this is for the plant that has been cut.  Where would I
get Vit B1 - the pharmacy? and what concentration?  The cuttings would
then be rooted with a rooting powder. Correct? so many questions.
thanx in advance

Question -
hi;  i have a floralight, with aglights.  i just bought it 1 week ago
and the jade plants simply love the light.  when would be a good
time to cut back the jade in order that it may branch out and
become more of a small tree instead of a few good long stems.
thanx in advance

Answer -
Hi Peter
You can go ahead and trim your jade now.  Make sure you trim down to a leaf node.  This will
force the plant to grow into a fuller type 'tree'.  You can root what you trim off of the plant and
either repot into a new plant or add back into the same pot.
Make sure when you do this, you water with Vitamin B-1 to keep the plant from going into
shock.

Good Luck Peter

Answer
Hi Peter-
You can buy Vitamin B-1 at any garden supply shop-K-Mart, Target, Home Depot, etc.  Follow the directions on the label as far as mixing goes.  It is just good to water with Vitamin B-1 when doing anything to a plant to help keep it from going into a shock.  As far as the rooting powder goes, you can purchase that also at a garden shop.  Just dip the tips into the powder.  This will keep the cuttings from rotting and helps force the roots to grow.
If you have any other questions, let me know.
Leslie
