dieing house plant

Question
My house plant(unknown species)appears to be dying. It has one main root with many branches coming off of it.The leaves average about 1.50by2.in. an are dark green. They are starting to droop and turn brown at the edges.Last spring there was tiny flowers I have not seen any again.

Answer
Leonard Niro,

You gave me very little information to go on. Is this a tree or a small plant? What size is the pot?  How often do you water it? How much light does it get? What color was the blooms?  Most plants only bloom once a year.

My best guess would be that whatever it is, it needs more light and less water.  More plants are killed with too much water than with too little.  Roots need alternate periods of wet and dry so they can soak up water then have a few days to breath carbon dioxide through their roots before they get watered again. I suggest that you move it to a location with more light and set it in the sink to drain as quickly as possible then do not water it again until it feels very dry.  If you want to send a picture to me at
[email protected]  I will try to identify it for you.

Good luck with your plant.

Darlene
