Schefflera having problem

Question
Hi.. I have a 50 inches sheflera, which was very beautiful and green, but lately the leaves started to get kind of brown, some even have black spot, and it's loosing a lot of it's leaves.
But it still produce small new branches with little leaves. Does it have anything to do with the watering of the plant, or maybe with the lighting. The problem started about a month ago.

I have trouble finding informations about sheflera in books.

Thank you for taking some time to read me.

Answer
Hi Francois,

I don't know which Schefflera species you have, the one with small leaves (S. arboricola) or the one with larger leaves (S. 'Amate'). If you want to email a photo to my address below, I can identify it for you and perhaps share some additional insights.

If the new leaves are noticeably smaller than the older leaves, then that means it is not getting enough light. Scheffleras need very bright indirect light with a few hours of direct sun each day.

Allow the top quarter of the soil to dry in between through waterings for best results. Keep the pot size small.

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
