abnormal leaves on dendrobium

Question
i am growing dendrobiums for the last ten years. i recently encounder the problem of un opening of the new terminal leaves of the plant.mechanical tearing of the lamina edges to a certain extend solve the problem.chocking of inflroscence also happens due to this.what could be the reason for this. how can i solve it

Answer
Hello Joselouis,

I'm afraid I've never encountered the problem you noted on some of your dendrobium leaves.  I vaguely remember hearing some one talk about this many years ago but do not recall what they said caused it.  I do not believe this is fatal and if the other leaves open normally, everything should be fine.

One thing to be cautious about would be getting water into the unopened leaf as that can cause a rot to form within it.  If you wish, you probably can split the leaf open without causing any harm to it or the dendrobium.

Sorry I can not be of more help.
