Plant identification first aid

Question
I received a plant as a gift. It had been growing quite well until the past month or so. Now it is dying and I have no idea what to do or even what kind of plant it is. I think it may be a succulent from the genus crassula. It started out small with a pinkish stem and round, green, waxy leaves that had a slight dark pink/redish edge. I'll see if I can send a few photos to help.

Answer
Hi Akiko,

The photos are very blurry. I suspect that you may have a Kalanchoe of some type. Senecio is another possibility.

Whichever you have, it is lacking enough light. Like most succulents, it should be in direct sunlight to keep it from getting too leggy. You may want to consider pruning or pinching it back, as well.

In addition, the pot is too large and the soil mix may not be porous enough. A large pot and non-porous soil will lead to root rot with many succulents.

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
