pollenating indoor orange trees

Question
How do I go about pollinating my orange tree it hasn't even flower at all I've had it for about 3yrs. and nothing sometime the leaves will fall off but it always manages to come back I put it outdoors in the summer I'm from the Northeast I have well water also What should I do I brought the plant up as a baby from a Trip from Florida

Answer
Your orange tree is a full sun plant, Laurie.  If you are not putting it next to a picture window facing south or west or east, you are not getting it enough light!

You can do this indoors with less natural light, but you have to add supplemental artificial light.  It's tricky but doable.  You can grow anything under the right light, even in a basement.  But it would be cheaper and simpler to put your tree next to a very sunny window.  And I mean, VERY sunny.  The kind to give you a tan!

I am almost certain this is why you have no flowers.

You don't have to worry about pollinating the trees.  If you get flowers - and the fragrance that goes along with those - you'll get oranges too.  But you need LIGHT LIGHT LIGHT.

What do you think?
