indoor orange tree

Question
My orange tree is several years old and has been doing well til now. Some of the leaves are dry and curling and there are spidery looking webs on some of the branches. I have sprayed these with an insecticide and, a few days later washed the plant with soapy water. Any advice and information you have would be appreciated.

Answer
Hi Shelia, Sounds like you have taken care of the problem as much as you can for now.  The dry and curling leaves maybe the leaf minor.  If you turn the leaf over you would see what would look like railroad tracks.  During cold weather the leaf minor goes to sleep and the new leaves that will be coming out will look good again.  Once summer comes the leaf minor comes back.  Insecticide spray is what I would recommend.  The webs on some branches could be from a bug also the spray would help that too.  Watch for the new growth to see if it has been corrected with the spray you used.  kathy
