Kimberly Queen Ferns

Question
I have six Kimbery Queen ferns on my screen porch. They were beautiful when I bought them in April. I water them twice a week and use time release fertilizer on them. Now they look like they are dying. The frons are starting to brown and spores fall all the time. What can I do for them?

Answer
Terry,

The spores are ripening, collect somme and try planting them. The brown fronds may be from underwatering, if it is hot (over 85 degrees) like it is in northern Indiana right now they need watered daily. They like high humidity so if you are in a dry area that may be hurting them too. Step up the watering, I don't thin it will hurt during August, you can bac off again if it cools off. Good luck.

Darlene
