Plant leaves fold up at night

Question

Plant with the leaves
I have a plant in my yard this year which I have never seen before.  There are 6 oblong leaves on each stem, 3 on each side.  In the evening, the opposing leaves fold down next to each other.  The plant is around 3 feet tall at this point, and small yellow flowers appeared in mid-August (I am in Southeastern PA).    I have attached a picture of the leaves when they are folded.  Can you tell me the name of this plant? I can send pictures with the leaves unfolded, and of the flowers if you want.

Answer
Bette,

I answer houseplant questions. This is definitely not a houseplant. In fact I suspect that it is a weed if it has come up and you did not plant it. Although it could be something that a bird dropped a seed of. You are welcome to send me a picture of the flowers and one with the leaves open. Does anyone nearby have this plant in their yards? You may want to take your pictures to your local county extension office. A master gardener their may be able to do a faster job of identifying it than I can. If they need to they can easily come out to look at the plant. It is not one that looks familiar to me at this point. Send me the other pictures and I will see what I can do but no promises.
