Yucca cane temps

Question
Tracy,
We have had 3 yucca cane plants for over 7 years which we have always brought inside when the temps got below freezing. The problem now is that they are too big to fit in the house.
I would like to know how cold a temperature they can take and if they will be alright in our open garage.
Thanks so much,
Jeff

Answer
Hi Jeff,

Your question ended up in the Question Pool, so I will provide an answer even though it is not addressed to me.

Your Yucca will not survive freezing temps, but it may be okay down to about 40 degrees. I don't know what you mean by an "open garage," nor do I know exactly how cold it gets in your area, but if temps in the garage fall much below 40 degrees, your Yucca will not fare well. In addition, it is important that your Yucca gets lots of sunlight in your garage.

I have written an article on Yucca care that I will email for free to you (or anyone else) who emails a request to me at [email protected].

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
