yucca cane plant

Question
I was given a yucca cane and it was dying, all the leaves fell off and then I repotted it in miracle grow soil. Will it come back or is there something else I need to do. The pole of the trunk is firm and solid. Not soft or mushy. Can you please help.

Without a picture I can only guess. Without any leaves on the plant I would say "NO". But now that you have repotted it into new soil you might as well start watering it and see what happens. Look for new green growth buds along the stem.

Water your yucca plant based on how much it weighs when thoroughly watered VS when it is ready to be watered again. Plants die from too frequent waterings, not from how much water you give them at one time. They also die from going too dry in between waterings. Pick the pot up or lean it to one side and feel how heavy it is after watering it thoroughly. Sometimes it helps to put a saucer under the pot and allow it to sit in the excess water for 5-10 minutes. Then pour off the excess water. Don't water it again until it feels considerably lighter and the top of the soil is light in color. Depending on plant types, sunlight exposure and pot size plants will need water at many different rates from once a day to once a month or more. Yuccas rot easily so it is best to err on the dry side.
If you haven't fertilized recently get to a local garden center and buy a good indoor plant fertilizer (like Miracle Grow indoor or what ever they recommend)...read the directions...Plants do need to be fertilized every month or so during the growing season to stay healthy...
Good luck
