Yucca Cane

Question
I have a Yucca Cane plant with 1 3ft. tall stalk and 1 11/2ft. tall stalk.  Up until about a month ago (early December, late November)the plant was doing great, and growing well.  We had a very cold spell around that time and since then the leaves have dropped (they are just laying down until they hit other leaves or the pot) and they are begining to have white spots on the top leaves.  I live in Northern Alabama, and the plant is in a pot that gets about 50% sun and not a whole lot of rain.  What should I do?

Answer
I live in Missouri.  This may or maynot help you.  We have Yucca up here in our yards.  They will die off and then grow back.  I would clean the plant up ie take off any dead leaves.  Make sure it gets plenty of water.  Please do not keep it damp.  Only water it when the top 1/2 of soil feels dry.

Have you given it any fertlizer or repotted it lately?  Some plants tend to "pout" after repotting.  Most tropicals cannot take direct sun but need bright indirect light.  I keep mine under my oak tree in the summer.  They do very well there.

It could be getting spots from lack of fertlizer or too much as well as getting some damage from the cold.  If you can give me a little more information I might be able to help you further.
